Helium: the autistic

I am very aware that discussing the possible picture of a remedy like Helium is highly speculative, and a speculation is a very shaky foundation for building a reliable materia medica. But like any other hypothesis, formulating it is the first step to finding the answer. There are times where we feel none of the remedies we know fit, and then the prescription of a still rather amorphous remedy like Helium could be justified. The map that Columbus drew of America was probably the worst ever, but who would hold that against him now? A good proving and reliable cases will have to create a more firm picture.

Jan Scholten is one of today's leading explorers in homoeopathy. From my experience I can state that many of the maps of new remedies he drew proved to be amazingly accurate. Until his book 'Homoeopathy and the elements' there was no record of Helium in the homoeopathic literature. The remedy picture that by his method of analysis he predicts for Helium is that of autism. Scholten writes: 'They don't feel like entering this world. They prefer to stay in themselves to experience their own being. They are not interested in finding out about values and meaning in life. They don't feel any affinity with those matters, they simply live. They have gone through the process of incarnation, they accept they are here and they don't doubt that fact. But they don't want to be involved in the why and wherefore of their existence.........they simply won't react. They remain locked up inside themselves, unapproachable and distant.'
Looking at Helium in the context of birth as a pre-natal and pre-miasmatic remedy makes it very clear why this remedy fits in autistic cases. In autism the relationship with the environment is not established. In the pre-natal state there is no duality in terms of inside and outside, of me and the other, so there is no relationship. All that is, simply is. And if the environment comes in, it comes in completely in autistic cases. We see this strongly in idiot savant cases (e.g. the films 'Rainman' or 'Being There'). These people can for example draw an exact copy of Westminster Abbey after looking at it only briefly, or remember each day's weather forecast for many years. But they do not relate to it. Something is either part of them or not.
Helium is formed through a fusion of two hydrogen atoms. One could say that Helium has resolved the feeling of isolation of Hydrogenium by becoming one within himself, like twins who after being born live their whole life together in a house without communicating with the rest of society. It resembles a chess match that has already become a draw after the second move. The match never unfolds, there is no interaction with life, and what the inner feelings and sensations are we simply don't know. In a way we can say Helium does not live. Eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is what puts the pieces on the chess board of human life. It seems as though Helium did not take a bite. It is out of paradise without being in the world.
Apart from autistic cases Helium could be considered in patients born by an elected caesarean, meaning cases where the decision to do a caesarean was made while the labour pains had not started yet and the foetus was still in a very good state. In such a case the foetus is taken out of the womb without a process of labour pains or without any danger to its life. It is known that these people can have a hard life due to the fact that they still expect that everything they need will come to them automatically. They act as if they are living on a south-sea island, where you only have to stretch out your hand to catch the falling coconut. They find it difficult to invest their energy in anything, because they lack the experience of successfully fighting for something, the fight for their life in the birth process
